That's the whole issue of "bearing the Light."
Michael Card (the writer of those lyrics I posted) wrote a song about "being the light on the hill" and "the bearers of God's light to the world." In it he referred to the "burden of bearing the light" - or, better, the "difficulty of possessing the Truth, coupled with the inability to live upstandingly at all times."

I have no problems preaching to anyone else, mostly because I am preaching to myself at the same time. My difficulty in living an absolutely pure life is nothing less than...Human. Nor do my daily sins and foibles do anything to render the Truth untrue. If the Truth is truly true, than my stupidity, hypocracy and misdeeds can do nothing to alter it. Perhaps only in another's perception, but not in it's innate efficacy.
